What I love about blogging about male grooming, is that every now and then I discover the Holy Grail of products, that really make you question “How did I manage without this before!
As its been a year since I began to blog on wordpress, I thought I would celebrate with a little look at the products that have made an impact in the last year. This will come in two parts; Grooming and Fashion!
So without further ado…Please allow me to present the:
Best Travel Kit
This year I have had a real focus on decent travel sets, with more travel required for work and a commitment to spend more time with my family, I have needed the best from grooming ranges in those tiny travel size bottles. One highly commended range is the Jack Black Jetset traveller, which features three amazingly good quality products in their own right (the facial cleanser really is fantastic). But for the full on complete kit of every grooming product that you could possibly need, the winner in this category is…
|Set contains: shampoo and Shower Gel, Smooth Shave Gel, Super Moisture Gel, Active Face Wash, Anti-fatigue Eye Serum and Fatigue Fighter Gel.
This is THE kit for the modern man.
Fragrance is a very personal journey, and there is no denying that many factors contribute to a great fragrance (including personal taste) but I had to choose one!
212 by Carolina Herrera and Extreme Sport by Paul Smith are top contenders for this award. But overall I have chosen a new release to take the crown, partly because I had no idea that this brand was on the most part unisex, and secondly because it really is the perfect spring/summer option. The fragrance of the year goes to…
Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne
Different from your average scent I just have to get my hands on a bottle of this ASAP!
Best Shave Brand
A really great grooming brand, encompasses your lifestyle into their range. You get a sense of self within each product. As well as this it’s important for me that the brand covers all aspects of the shave experience. The winner of this award is a range that has made shaving less of a chore and more of a “Me Time” experience!
So without further ado the winner of Best Shave Brand is:
Murdock of London
With a firm base in barbering itself, they know exactly what we men need when it comes to the shaving experience, and their range makes it possible to achieve a top notch shave in your own home as well.
Best Shave Product
For best shave product I have had to go for something that I have been compelled to replenish as soon as it has finished! So for me there were two very different products in close contention. Just being pipped to the post was Colour Me Shave, which I find to be an utterly brilliant product that makes the shaving process super easy. But the traditionalist in me had to go with a classic and stylish product the smells good enough to eat!
The winner of Best Shave Product is…
Taylor of Old Bond Street – Coconut Shave Cream
I feel like a king every time I use this product. It’s a rich, high quality shave cream, that creates a great lather and leaves you feeling like the best gentleman you can be!
Best Skincare Brand
When it comes to great skincare there are many brands out there who are doing amazing things, but when it comes to a brand that I can rely on for all of my skincare needs, there is only one!
The winner of Best Skincare Brand is…
I know that whatever state my skin is in, this range will sort it out with a minimum of effort! And this exfoliating tonic is a key product within the range.
Best Skincare Product
Goes to a moisturising gel that also makes dealing with stubborn stubble a piece of cake. This no hassle product has changed the way that I tackle skincare, and therefore has to be given the award of Best skincare product.
And the winner is:
L’Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Moisturising Gel Skin and Stubble
Best Grooming Tool
When it comes to the best grooming tool, there was only one brand that I could consider…
Their entire range is durable and super high quality, but to pick just one the the award goes to:
G*E*A*R Moustache Scissors & Comb.
They take precision to a whole new level, and I cannot wait for more from this incredible brand.
Best Gym Essential
Good Gym-going products are all about convenience and function, so of all of my awards this is the most job specific, that I have had to be!
The Nip+man range is highly commended specifically for active men with whom muscle development is key, the Molton Brown heating balm for tired muscles, was a breakthrough product in their sports range that went beyond just smelling good. But my winner is:
Champneys – Anti-Chafing gel
This gem of a product has seen me through training for a marathon and saved my nipples from mortal peril!
Best Hairstyle Range
Well, when it comes to achieving the best hairstyle, we need excellent quality products to be as multi-use as possible. Highly commended is the osmo range that really achieve great styling with a minimum amount of effort. But overall, I had to award the winner of this category to a brand whose range was so strong that my hairdresser and barber mates commented on how good my hair was looking!
The Winner is:
Jack The Lad
The complete range is a winner and I also find that these products can combine really easily to achieve different looks.
Best Haircare Range
Well this only had one front runner, and it will be of no surprise to my regular readers that the winner of Best Haircare Range goes to:
Providing body and making the most of any texture in a cut, and these great qualities are achieved with zero sulphates drying out the scalp! My hair has never been in better condition and my scalp has never been as nourished!
The Holy Grail Product Of The Year
A great facemask is the corner stone of a skincare routine. There aren’t too many marketed towards men, so in my search for the perfect option, I stumbled across the winner of this award and have never looked back.
The Winner is:
Una Brennan – Superfacialist Pore Purifying Clay Mask
And ThatIsBeyond… Male Grooming Awards!
