Earlier this week, I attended a work function which we have in lieu of having any time off during Christmas. Myself and my team at work had decided that this year we would just put on our glad rags instead of following this year’s chosen theme… The Greatest Showman.
On Monday, when I arrived at the office I decided to float the idea that maybe we should do a themed costume afterall, especially as we had a quiet schedule and had 4 days to do something! I thought and thought and ping! A 💡 moment occurred and I announced that we should be loads of clowns in a clown car! There was a silence and then I could have sworn there was an intake of breath!! A horrified sound.
I thought to myself, well that went down like a lead balloon.
I had a couple of meetings and came back to the office and there sat in front of me, was a cardboard clown car! It was big enough to fit the 8 of us in too! And so the idea became a reality and our clown troop (the FRUIT LOOPS ) was created. We had a whale of a time!
The wigs and make-up arrived, we sewed shapes to T shirts and made some patch work Bow Ties. This was a crafty gaggle of jesters indeed.
If you have never been out dressed as a clown, you don’t know what you are missing! It is awesome. I have never been so confident and full of energy and life. The costumes sort of mask any Insecurities and you can literally dance like a lunatic! (Which if you ask me is the best way to dance!)
I love to dance. It’s so freeing. But I do get a little in my head about being watched, and face paint and a clown nose put an end to that! It was a very freeing experience indeed.
The moral of the story? Well sometimes forget it all, let loose and clown around. Afterall, if it’s not hurting anyone then why not?! And who knows what you might discover about yourself!
