ThatIsBeyond… top 3 M&S Autumn Knitwear Pieces

It’s been a while since I had the legitimate opportunity to talk about knitwear! Those who regularly read my fashion posts will know how much I love it when we get to the darker months and can begin to build layer upon layer of wools and knits. But this all begins at the end of summer and early autumn, where a light sweater is the Accessory du Jour!
Welcome to three of my Top Marks and Spencer picks for the changing of the seasons – a these are no ordinary sweaters, these are Marks and Spencer sweaters. My first pick is the perfect accompaniment to my early autumn holiday in the sun.

This ombré designed light knit has a lot to offer the stylish gent. The graduation through grey to black (via charcoal) is a subtle statement but creates the illusion of a much more interesting shape. The darker wool across the midsection narrows the overall line whilst the light grey broadens across the shoulders and helps create a masculine silhouette.

For October, I will be pairing this stylish piece with linen trousers and sandals, for an evening stroll along a sandy beach. The Autograph Dip Dye Crew Jumper in Grey is just £55.00 and will serve as s great transitional piece through Autumn/Winter.

My other two picks, both play on the idea of Geometricity within the knits themselves. Which was a huge trend for AW2015 and some amazing images  have featured in the lead up to their release.

The detailing on this M&S Collection Geometric Print Cardigan is fantastic, from the double buttoned foot of the central panel to the framing of the the geometric print, this is a classy must-have item.

To me, this piece reads as a modern take on a 1950’s grandad jumper, and the Teal/Blue focus is bang on trend for this season. The button hole panel breaks up the mass and elongates the body – this means that this is the perfect option for guys like me who have more body to cover! Whether you choose to wear this as a fitted piece, or over-sized into your winter wardrobe, this is a great piece that will keep giving throughout the colder months.

Lastly and featuring a full-on vintage inspiration is this collared sweater (which in my humble opinion is a play on the polo shirt as a jumper!)

This definitively seventies colour pallet is as much about adding tone as it is about creating pattern.

For a piece like this, fit is key. The waist band needs to sit just right in order to get the overall balance correct – across the hips at the Trouser line – and once you’ve found the right one, you won’t want to turn back!
Pair this with some sturdy denim and some chunky winter boots or the adverse light chinos and smart brown shoes. For skinnier guys this will work under a jacket for late autumn as well.
