With the New Year comes resolutions and the repetitive return to my aim of getting fit. But the problem is, I never know what to wear! Whilst my Christmas stocking yielded some festive socks and some pants as well, it was lacking in the activewear department! And so with that in mind I have been eagerly awaiting the newest release from David Gandy & Autograph for Marks & Spencer.
I was lucky enough to see some samples of the upcoming range and am suitably excited to buy some as a gift… For me! This collection is an easy transition between loungewear and sportswear, whether your preference is sitting on the sofa or sprinting the length of a sports field, this is the collection for you!
So what can we expect from the Gandy’s sports inspired range? Following the global success of the loungewear launch in September 2014 and my favourite swimwear debut of summer 2015, the collection is set to launch this month, both in store and online.
We all know how amazing the designs that have precursored this release have been, but what makes this exclusive five piece capsule collection, the must have of menswear for 2016?
They are obviously designed and modelled by the world’s only male supermodel (which pulls an audience in its own right) but more importantly, in my very humble opinion, is the wearability of his designs for men of all ages, shapes and styles!
Take these shorts for example, the chunky waist ties create a clean, bold line and add to the overall proportion of these bottoms.
Mostly what has struck me, is how this collection blends well between active wear and loungewear. The kind of clothing that you can wear to and from the gym and remain looking as stylish as your everyday outerwear. The ultimate test of this collection will be in the wearing, and whether it marries comfort and style on the frame. But if my experience of Autograph is anything to go by, then there is nothing to worry about!
The capsule collection includes a t-shirt, hooded jumper, joggers, shorts and a crew neck jumper. These are the very basic necessities of all men but because Gandy is involved, you know that these will be more than your average sweats. Featured across the range are premium fabrics, with the functional and stylish sports inspired details that we have come to expect.
With items ranging from £22.50 – £39.50, this is an affordable way to rock this activewear style.
David Gandy says: “Men want style in all aspects of their life. I wanted to design styles that could be worn pre and post workout, as an extension to my loungewear collection… adding style to essential wardrobe items.”
So hear hear Mr Gandy, I cannot wait to get my hands on this sportswear, so that even if my New Years resolutions fall apart, I will be the best dressed couch potato in London!
