Lockdown is not all doom and gloom. Don’t get me wrong, it has been tough. But sometimes we could all do with a little personal reminder of why we are here and what we are trying to achieve.

Across the board, it seems that this week has been particularly tough for those in my circle. There is probably some science behind why, but if I’m honest I have been in too much of a haze to see much further than the end of my nose! But I do know this – whilst it’s hard to feel good about myself it is so easy to share my admiration of others.
Looking in at people I see all they have to offer, their warmth and their light. I see their achievements and their tenacity to make it through. But when it comes to me… I need a reminder.
The refocus band that I was kindly #gifted has given me gentle reminder that there is more to me than I can often give myself credit for.

We produce up to 60,000 thoughts per day. 80% of our thoughts are negative.”
The process is simple, when a negative thought enters your mind, you flip the band. By recognising the negative thoughts you make a choice to replace it with a positive thought. This momentary re-evaluation can be enough to change your trajectory and push you forwards with positivity.
I have been wearing mine for a couple of weeks and it it’s without a doubt and adjustment to make. You have to work at it and decide to recognise the negative, but has the band helped me focus on changing some of this negativity? Yes. It certainly has.

My band is a classic black and grey checkered design and reminds me to remember that “whatever it takes” is what I need to do. This message couldn’t be more relevant in these Covid times, where it’s easy to become unmotivated and, to be honest, a bit insular. I sometimes need to motivation to get me out of the house to exercise or to get the house cleaned instead of wasting time on social media or in front of tv re-runs.
This isn’t the wonder product that will end our mental health woes, nor does it claim to be. But by playing on our innate ability to be habitual, it may well make our days just a little bit easier to handle.
So far I have enjoyed the experience and welcome any positivity that can change my experience.
There are many messages available to personalise your band to a message that resonates to you, and make you more resilient.

From “it doesn’t matter what they think” to “I am the storm” there really is something for everyone! So why not refocus and see if it works for you.
